HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY 2018

INFORMATION FOR TEACHERS AND PUPILS
 
The Cross Country will be held on Wednesday the 18th April 
commencing as close as possible to 9.15am. Children should move to House areas under teacher supervision at 8.55 am. Year 4, 5 and 6 students to attend morning and middle sessions.
 
ü  Teachers on checkpoints to collect 2 way radios and event information.
ü  Check points will have chairs and umbrellas.
ü  Course orientation will have already been done leading up to the event.

Medal presentation on Oval

 

  • Suitable shoes must be worn (NO SPIKES OR BARE FEET).  Wear light, cool clothes.  Wearing a hat is optional when running.
  • Warm up before competing - Warm down and stretch after competing.
  • Drink some water on the morning of the Cross Country, up to half an hour before your race. Bring your own water, hat, sun cream. Asthmatics bring sprays and have puffs as per your Asthma Management Plan.
  • The course commences at STARTING LINE ON BIG OVAL. Keep within any markers and follow the continuous line throughout your race.
  • TO FINISH, follow the line to the cricket nets, turning sharp right into the middle of the oval to the finishing bay.
  • Colour coded maps have been placed in the Notice Board and at all Year 4, 5 and 6 classroom areas.
 
Children turning 9 years in 2017 (2009) in Year 4 do nearly 2 laps of the marked track on the school ovals. As they come to the western gates for the 2nd time cut left and follow around and down towards the Scout Hall. Follow the marked track past the Adventure Playground and large trees then head left up the concrete pathway to Cann Oval following the marked track onto Wood oval. At the cricket nets turn sharp right and run to the finish line. (Pending any changes or delays in construction work in Area 5)
 
Children turning 10 years in 2017 (2008) will follow the markers White on right, Red on Left and Yellow at turns along Wood and Cann oval down the concrete path onto Victor St and past the Scout Hall into Mott Park. Follow the footpath past the new water catchment area follow the black line around the Rotunda, Footbridge, Play Area, the Bowls Club and past Checkpoint 6. At Checkpoint 7 head left and then return the same way around the Scout Hall up the concrete path past Checkpoint 1 and left to follow the markers and/or black line to the finish.
 
Children turning 11 years in 2017 (2007) will do 1 ½ lap of the upper ovals before following the path down to Victor St around the Scout Hall then continue as above to the finish line.
 
Children turning 12 years in 2017 (2006) will do the same as 11 yrs with an additional lap in Mott Park of the footpath past the new water catchment area follow the black line around the Rotunda, Footbridge, Play Area, the Bowls Club and past Checkpoint 6. After the additional lap at Checkpoint 7 head left and then return the same way around the Scout Hall up the concrete path past Checkpoint 1 and left to follow the black line to the Finish.
 
Multi age event boys and girls (SEP) students have the option to walk, jog or run one lap of Wood and Cann ovals. This event has been introduced to maximize participation in our Cross Country event.
