Excellence programs

2017 Excellence Expo
Holland Park State School Gifted and Talented Education Committee proudly announces Excellence Expo 2017.  Our school motto is: Striving  to Excel and we are looking forward to the school’s 13th Excellence Expo.
The Holland Park State School Gifted and Talented Education Committee invites all families, students, staff and community members to celebrate the gifts and talents of all our students from Preparatory year of learning to Year 6.
Official Ceremony 
Date: Wednesday 6 September 2017
Time: 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Venue: School Hall
 
Students' work
Students' work will be on display in classrooms around the school before and after the Official Cermony for everyone to view. Displays will be opened for viewing prior to the opening ceremony from 3.10pm.
Prep to Year 6 Nomination booklets are being distributed to all students across all the following categories :
Mathematics, Writing, Asian Studies, Digital Technology , Science , S.T.E.M. (Science,Technology, Engineering and mathematics), Performing  Arts: Vocal Solo, Dance Solo, Instrumental Solo, Visual Art My Country, My Place, My Heritage, Japanese Speaking and Japanese Native Speaking, Public Speaking and Reading Australian Verse.  
We look forward to receiving nominations from all students and invite all parents, grandparents, students and community members to attend and celebrate learning at Holland Park State School on Wednesday 6 September 2017.

Gifted Awareness Week 2017 (Australia) 
During Gifted Awareness week 2017 the Gifted and Talented Education Committee invite you to a Parent Information evening on Monday 13 March from 6.30pm -7.30pm This event will take place in the Holland Park School Hall. All families and community members are invited to attend.

Defining 'gifted' and 'talented
 
Gifted students are those whose potential is distinctly above average in one or more of the following domains of human ability:
 
       Intellectual, creative, social and physical.
 
       Giftedness designates the possession and use of outstanding natural abilities, called aptitudes, in at least one ability domain, to a degree that places an individual at least among the top 10%of age peers in the school.
